However, JPEG is not ideal for every image type. Sharp edges, text, and flat-colour graphics develop visible artefacts at typical JPEG compression levels. Logos, screenshots of UI elements, and pixel art should stay as PNG. What Happens to Transparency

One of PNG's key features is support for alpha transparency. JPEG does not support transparency at all.
